Title:
HYDROGENATION OF POLYMERS USING LUTHENIUM COMPLEXES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0625325
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To selectively obtain hydrogenated conjugated diene copolymers with high reaction rate by hydrogenating copolymers of conjugated dienes and copolymerizable monomers in the presence of specified bi-valent luthenium catalysts to restrain isomerization and gel formation.

CONSTITUTION: The intended hydrogenated conjugated diene copolymers are obtained by selectively hydrogenating copolymers of conjugated diene (example: butadiene) and at least one kind of copolymerizable monomers (example: acrylonirile or the like) in the solvents comprising mixtures of methylethylketone and chlorobenzene in the presence of at least one kind of bivalent luthenium catalysts [example: carbonylchlorohydride bis(tricyclohexylphosphine) luthenium II or the like] shown by formula I (X is halogen, carboxylate; Y is halogen, H, phenyl, carboxylate, phenylvinyl; Z is CO, pyridine, benzonitrile, trimethylphosphite; L is phosphine ligand having bulky alkyl substituting group) or by formula II.
