To provide a new illumination device supporting a lighting fixture by an arm, capable of imparting a shade with novel design by dividing a function into a lighting fixture main body holding a fluorescent lamp and a shade, with reduced cost of a shade molding die, capable of changing the color of the lighting fixture with minimum change of parts, provided with new function of simply wiping off dirt and dust adhered on a shade.

On the illumination device, an oblong lighting fixture 4 is held at an end part of an arm 9 so as to be able to change its angle, and a handle part 13 is arranged at lateral central part of front part of the lighting fixture so as to protrude frontward. On the handle part, a handle cover 20 is superposed on a handle base body part 16, and the handle cover is formed so as to protrude frontward from the handle base body part. Furthermore, outer peripheral face of the handle base body part is formed into a slanted face slanted inward as it is headed to lower part.
