PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus able to prevent tear of a recording medium.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: locking means configured to lock a drawing unit in an apparatus body, the drawing unit being configured to accommodate a main conveyance path along which paper conveyed from a paper feed part is conveyed to a tandem image forming apparatus, and an ejection path along which paper with an image formed thereon is conveyed to a paper ejection part, and configured such that the unit can be drawn from the apparatus body; bridge detection means, such as a bridge sensor, configured to detect whether a recording medium is bridging over a space between the conveyance path on the body side and the conveyance path on the drawing unit side; and control means configured to control the locking means such that when the bridge detection means detects a bridge, the drawing unit is locked in the apparatus body.
