Abstract:

To enable selectively reproduce only an effective image area in an image signal.

An image signal given from a frame switcher 1 to a digital video recorder 2 covers an entire image area 12 including an effective image area 11 and a blank area. Particular information 13 such as camera number information is recorded in the blank area. The digital video recorder 2 stores the received image signal in a digital form. The digital video recorder 2 attaches area information to designate the effective image area 11 to the image signal when the digital video recorder 2 distributes the stored image signal of the digital form to a terminal 3 via a communication channel 5. The terminal 3 can reproduce only the effective image area 11 on the basis of the area information and delete the particular information 13 from a display screen 33.
