To solve the problem that when the detection of an object is temporarily failed, a rapid exposure change may occur occasionally, in an imaging device including a function which detects the object meeting predetermined conditions from image data and adjusts exposure in accordance with the detected object.
The present invention relates to an imaging device which performs imaging continuously and inputs a plurality of images, including: a digital signal processing circuit (107) adapted to detect an object meeting preset conditions from image data for each inputted image; a first exposure determining unit (1003) adapted to operate a first exposure value from the image data; a second exposure determining unit (1004) adapted to operate a second exposure value on the basis of the detected object; and an exposure control determining unit (1005) adapted to select, as an exposure value to be used for the next imaging, any one of the first exposure value, the second exposure value, an exposure value being set at present, and an exposure value calculated based on the luminance of an area that is referenced for calculating the exposure value being set at present, based on a result of the object detection by the digital signal processing circuit.
