To provide an image apparatus for precisely correcting cross talk leaked into a focal point detection pixel from an adjacent pixel.
The imaging apparatus includes: a solid-state imaging element which has a first group of pixels for receiving light that has passed a pupil area in a part of a photography lens, a second group of pixels for receiving light that has passed a pupil area different from one in the first group of pixels, and a third group of pixels for receiving light that has passed the whole pupil area in the photography lens; a saturation determination section for determining whether or not charge accumulated in the first group of pixels, the second group of pixels, and the third group of pixels has reached a saturation value; a correction section for correcting influences of the third group of pixels on the charge accumulated in the first group of pixels or the second group of pixels by using the charge accumulated in the third group of pixels adjacent to first pixels included in the first group of pixels or second pixels included in the second group of pixels; and a prediction section for predicting charge of the third pixels when it is determined by the saturation determination section that the third pixels have reached the saturation value. The correction section corrects the charge accumulated in the first or the second pixels by using a prediction result of the charge of the third pixels by the prediction section.
