To provide an induction cooker of inexpensive structure capable of accurately detecting the temperature of a pan placed on a top plate and capable of controlling power to be supplied to a heating coil.
The induction cooker includes: a heating coil 3 for heating a heated material; a top plate 2, which is provided above the heating coil 3 and on which the heated material is to be placed; an infrared ray sensor 12 provided under the heating coil 3 to detect infrared rays radiated from the heated material; a heat insulating plate 19 covering a light receiving surface 12a of the infrared ray sensor 12 and having an infrared ray transmitting characteristic; a temperature computing means 21 for computing the temperature of the heated material based on an output of the infrared ray sensor 12; and a control means 22 for controlling power to be supplied to the heating coil 3 in response to an output of the temperature computing means 21. The control means 22 controls an output of the heating coil 3 by detecting the temperature of the heated material based on the output of the infrared ray sensor 12. An infrared ray attenuation range of the heat insulating plate 19 is set in a range of wavelength at 4 micron.
