To provide an induction heating cooker which can reliably detect existence or non-existence of a pan placed on a top plate.
The induction heating cooker comprises a top plate 2, a heating coil 3, inverter means 10 for supplying an electric power to the heating coil 3, an infrared sensor 17 for detecting a temperature of a pan bottom of a pan 30, a temperature sensor 15 for detecting a temperature of the pan bottom, infrared light-emitting means 18a for emitting infrared rays toward the pan bottom of the pan 30, infrared light-receiving means 18b for receiving infrared rays reflected by the pan bottom of the pan 30, existence/non-existence-of-pan detection means 20 for performing conversion based on an output from the infrared light-receiving means 18b into a signal for detecting existence or non-existence of the pan 30, control means 118 for controlling, when it is unable to detect existence or non-existence of the pan 30 by comparing an output value from the existence/non-existence-of-pan detection means 20 with a preliminarily built-in value, the inverter means 100 to supply the heating coil 3 with an electric power of a weaker heating power and determining that the pan 30 covers an optical sensor window 16 when the temperature sensor 15 indicates variation representing temperature rise.
