Abstract:
To provide an inert gas generator and an inerting method for optimizing size and use of an inerting system in order to reduce consumption and cost of the use.SOLUTION: A generator 1 of inert gas from an airflow, in an inerting system for at least one aircraft fuel tank is disclosed. The generator includes a system including an air inlet 3 and means 5 for distributing the airflow to a plurality of air separation modules 2. The plurality of air separation modules is arranged in parallel on an air system to deplete oxygen in air and generate nitrogen-enriched inert gas at an outlet. The generator includes a programmed control unit 6 so that the distribution means selectively supplies air to a single air separation module, or a portion or all of the air separation modules, depending on a flight phase of an aircraft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
