Title:
INHIBITION OF POLYMERIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10330297
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide both a method and a system for cleanly treating an exhaust gas by-product of dehydrogenation reaction of especially an aromatic monovinyl compound.

This method prevents the early polymerization of a styrene monomer during production of styrene by dehydrogenating ethylbenzene and comprises passing the supplied flow of ethylbenzene to a dehydrogenating catalyst in a dehydrogenating reactor to form a styrene formed product flow, removing an exhaust gas flow containing H, ethylbenzene vapor, styrene, benzene and toluene vapor, CO, CO2 and a water vapor-containing by-product from the reactor, injecting a styrene polymerization inhibitor to the exhaust gas flow and compressing the gas flow without forming a polystyrene except its trace amount in a styrene production system.
