Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process relating to a steam pyrolysis zone integrated with a hydrotreating zone and a deasphalting zone to permit direct processing of crude oil feedstocks to produce petrochemicals including olefins and aromatics.SOLUTION: A process of the present invention comprises: charging a crude oil to a hydrotreating zone 4 operating under conditions effective to produce a hydroprocessed effluent 10; charging the hydroprocessed effluent 10 to a solvent deasphalting zone 25 with an effective amount of solvent to produce a deasphalted and demetalized oil stream and a bottom asphalt phase; thermally cracking the deasphalted and demetalized oil stream in the presence of steam to produce a mixed product stream 44; separating the mixed product stream 44; purifying hydrogen 62 recovered from a flowing fluid mixture 58 and recycling it in the hydrotreating zone; recovering olefins and aromatics from the separated mixed product stream 65; recovering pyrolysis fuel oil 72 from the separated mixed product stream 65.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
