PURPOSE: To provide an interleukin-1(IL-1) inhibitor containing a benzoheterocyclic compound as the active component and useful for improvement of various kinds of diseases caused by abnormal release of IL-1.
CONSTITUTION: This IL-1 inhibitor contains one or more kinds of compounds selected from the group composed of a compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl; X1 is a halogen) or its salt, e.g. 7-(3-methyl-1- piperazinyl)-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-5-methyl-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid and a compound of formula II (R3 is a lower alkyl; R4 is OH; X2 is a halogen) or its salt, e.g. 9-fluoro-8-(4-hydroxy-1-piperidinyl)-5-methyl-6,7-dihydro-1- oxo-1H,5H-benzo[i,j]quinolidine-2-carboxylic acid as the active component. As diseases caused by abnormal release of IL-1, e.g. autoimmune disease, rheumatic disease and inflammation due to local or systemic infectious disease are exemplified.
