To provide an ion exchanger that suppresses fluctuations both in water head difference and in liquid permeating resistance during regeneration and extrusion processes.
The ion exchanger includes a pressure tank 2; a liquid tank 4 (6) for storing regenerated liquid W4 and/or water W1; a liquid supply line L4 (L1) connecting the pressure tank 2 to the liquid tank 4 (6); a liquid level control means 75 (74); and a drain line L5 connected to the pressure tank 2 to discharge, from an open end, regenerated liquid and/or water supplied to the pressure tank 2 from the liquid tank 4 (6). The ion exchanger is set so as to satisfy the following height relationship: the liquid level in the liquid tank 4 (6)> the open end of the drain line L5. The regenerated liquid and/or water are supplied to the pressure tank 2 from the liquid tank 4 (6) and to discharge the regenerated liquid and/or water to the drain line L5 from the pressure tank 2 by the water head difference between the liquid level in the liquid tank 4 (6) and the open end of the drain line L5. An ion exchange resin bed 211 of the pressure tank 2 comprises ion exchange resin beads with a crosslinking degree of 10-12%.
