To provide a joint structure where the absorptivity of laser light on laser welding can be increased, and further, the quality of welding can be secured, and to provide a welding method for an edge joint.
Laser light is applied to a bevel 4 formed between the end faces 2a and 3a of edges 2 and 3. Thus, the laser light applied to the bevel 4 is not radiated but reutilized for increasing the temperature of the part irradiated with the laser light in the edge joint 1, so that the absorptivity of the laser light can be improved. Further, burrs 5 produced on the formation of the bevel 4 are interposed between the mating faces 2b and 3b of the edges 2 and 3, and a gap 6 is formed between the mating faces 2b and 3b. Thus, the vapor of a plating material evaporated on laser welding easily escapes from the space between the mating faces 2b and 3b, so that the generation of blowholes and shrinks caused by the scattering of molten metal from the space between the mating faces 2b and 3b is prevented to secure the quality of the welding.
