To ensure the management and guard of a building by providing an operating piece rotated in such a manner as to be capable of protruding and recessing on the deepest part of a receiving part for storing the key of each tenant, and mechanically detecting the housing state of the key with one device.
When the tenant user of a building deposits a key in the housing box of a key management device, the door of a prescribed housing box is opened after an ID card having information such as password code numbers recorded thereon is inserted to the card reader of the key management device and verified. When the key is inserted to a key housing part 8 within the housing box to a prescribed position (depth), the protruding piece 2a of an operating piece 2 is pushed thereby, and a detecting device 3 formed of a detecting lever 19 and a microswitch 18 is operated to confirm the insertion of the key. When the key is rotated in the inserted state until it makes contact with a rotation regulating plate 9, a rotation detecting device 4 is operated to confirm the rotating state. Three states of no insertion, insertion and rotation of the key can be confirmed in a management room. Thus, the management can be thoroughly performed.
