To enable efficient kneading by mechanically realizing a kneading method in which a material to be kneaded which is rolled and formed into a belt is turned up and piled up in layers and furthermore rolled and also giving effective movement to the whole when being kneaded.
A kneader is provided with a drum body 1 for housing a material to be kneaded is housed inside, a support mechanism for rotatably supporting the drum body 10 around horizontal shafts 11a, 11b, a driving mechanism for reciprocatively rotating the drum body 10 around its horizontal shafts by a prescribed angle, and a roller 40 for rolling a material to be kneaded in the drum body 10. On the inner surface of the drum body 10, push-up means 15, 16 for moving the material to be kneaded in the drum body 10 with the rotation of the drum body 10 are provided. Furthermore, the rotation angle of the drum body 10 is set so that a part of the material to be kneaded moving with the rotation of the drum body 10 may fall or be turned up by gravity to be piled up.
