To provide a method for knitting, while increasing stitches, capable of eliminating an empty needle state in a preliminary stage course for increasing stitches and capable of preventing the formation of a large hole in the first course for increasing the stitches.
This method for knitting, while increasing stitches, comprises sequentially knitting the stitches for a course with a needle group (F0, F1, F2, F3, F4) disposed on a needle bed and holding all the stitches of a knitted fabric during the knitting operation and with a needle B1 placed between the two adjacent needle F1, F2 among the other needle group (B0, B1, B2, B3, B4) disposed on the other needle bed. Subsequently, all stitches on either one of right and left sides of the needle B1 among stitches newly knitted by the use of the other needles (F2, F3, F4) are transferred to the other needle group (B2, B3, B4) on the stitch-increasing direction side adjacent the needle B1, and all stitches held with the other needles (B2, B3, B4) are transferred to the needle group (F2, F3, F4, F5) so that the stitch held with the needle B1 is transferred to the empty needle side of the two needles F1, F2.
