PURPOSE: To record at a high speed, to prevent deformation of a support, and to improve a picture quality, dimensional stability by setting glass transition temperature of a synthetic polymer film support to higher than a color developing starting temperature of a color developing layer in the recording material for a facsimile, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A laser thermal recording material is recorded by irradiating it with a laser while heating it to a temperature range T1 represented by a formula I. In the formula, TS is a color developing starting temperature of the material. Thus, a glass transition temperature of a synthetic polymer film support is set to the temperature TS or more. That is, a synthetic polymer film having a glass transition temperature of 70°C or more is used as the support, and can be heated to a temperature near the temperature TS. For example, a crystalline polyethylene terephthalate film (having a glass transition temperature of 80°C) is used as the support.
