Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled light-emitting diode with excellent workability even when the density of printing dots is high, and to improve the quality of printing by forming the shape of the surface of a diffusion region to an approximately projecting shape and forming an electrode to a protrusion section having the approximately projecting shape in an optical printer head.

CONSTITUTION: Zinc is diffused selectively to the surface of an N type GaAsP growth layer in an approximately projecting shape in the surface of a light-emitting diode 2 to form a P type region 24, and a light-shielding electrode 25 in aluminum is shaped so as to coat the protrusion section 24 having the approximately projecting shape so that a position corresponding to one part of a base section 24b in the P type region 24 is formed preferably. Accordingly, a mask for the electrode 25 can be positioned while using the side 24c or corner section of a wide section, the projecting base section 24b, of the diffusion region 24 as a reference, thus manufacturing the titled light-emitting diode with superior workability even when the density of printing dots is high. Printing dots take the shape only of the approximately projecting base section 24b and the excessive streaks of beams are not generated, thus improving the quality of printing.
