Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent display irregularity in high time-division driving by using a liquid crystal mixture which has a specific value of dielectric anisotropy at a frequency which is three times as large as the value obtained by multiplying the frame frequency in time-division driving by the number of time divisions.

CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display device is formed having the liquid- crystal mixture sandwiched between two electrode substrates. The value of dielectric anisotropy of the liquid crystal mixture at a frequency three times as large as the value obtained by multiplying the frequency of time-division driving by the number of time division is 98% of the value of dielectric anisotropy at a frequency three times as high as the frame frequency. Further, the frequency of a voltage applied to liquid crystal depends upon a display pattern, but is up to the value obtained by multiplying the frame frequency by the number of time divisions. Thus, display irregularity of the liquid crystal display device which is used with, specially, ≥32 time divisions and the display quality is improved.
