To provide a locking device which is simple in structure and reliably lower a roof tip to a cowl along a final moving path to lock the cowl.
In the locking device having a movably supported locking hook 5, the locking hook 5 can be locked to a locking engagement unit 11 of a counter locking member, and a convertible top 1 of a vehicle is locked to the cowl 3. The locking hook 5 is movably supported by the roof tip 2 of the convertible top 1 or the cowl 3, and can be locked to the cowl 3 or the roof tip 2 as the locking counter member, a driving device drives an intermediate member, in particular, a tilting lever 14, the tilting lever 14 is connected to the locking hook 5, and in order to close and lock the convertible top 1, the tilting lever 14 allows the locking hook 5 to slide relative a fixed guide member 7 to be guided and engaged with a guide track 8 of the locking hook 5 during the oscillating and sliding motion, and at the same time, the tilting lever oscillates the locking hook around the guide member 7.
