Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily detect even a postal matter with a light fluorescent color or without any fluorescent color. CONSTITUTION: An analog red image and an analog image in other colors than red obtained by reading a carried mail by a color sensor 32 are converted into digital images at A/D converters 41, 42, a histogram circuit 45 obtains a histogram in each direction from the converted images in red and other colors, a background color of the mail is defined by obtaining a most frequent value from the histograms of each direction, a coordinate transformation circuit 46 transforms coordinates of the image based on the defined background color, a binary circuit 47 binarizes a red area from the image subject to coordinate transformation, an image processing section 48 applies image processing to the binarized image and a CPU 30 discriminates a postal matter (in red image) from the image subject to image processing.
