To obtain a metastasis controller of malignant tumors particularly lung cancer, breast cancer or prostatic cancer, particularly bone metastasis by using a specific vitamin as an active ingredient.
This metastasis controller contains as an active ingredient a vitamin D derivative of formula I [R1 is -O-R2, -S-R2, -CH2-R2, -CH=R2 (R2 is a 1-10C chain hydrocarbon, which may be substituted with OH); R3 is H, OH]. As a preferable example, is cited a compound of formula II(R4 is -O-R2, -CH2-R2) and a compound of formula III is more preferable where R2 is a 1-10C alkyl substituted with one or more OH. The most preferred compound as a malignant tumor metastasis controller is the compound of formula IV. Among compounds of formula I, a preferred compound is a compound of formula V[1α (OH)vitamin D3] or the like in addition to the compound of formula IV. The dose is preferably 0.01-1,000μg, particularly 1-20μg/adult/day.
