Title:
MANUFACTURE OF RAW MATERIAL FOR IRON MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62243722
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out compacting at a low cost and to form into raw material for iron and steel manufacture without causing deterioration in yield due to scattering, by magnetizing a fine-grained iron powder recovered from steelmaking slag or converter dust, by making the above powder to be attracted by a sheet steel layer, and then by subjecting the above to compacting.

CONSTITUTION: A pulverized iron powder of ≤1mm grain size recovered from the slag discharged from a steel-making furnace or a similar iron powder recovered from the converter dust is passed through a solenoid electromagnetic coil to undergo magnetization and is then attracted by a sheet metal scrap by means of magnetic force, which is subjected to pressing and compacting. By charging the above material into an electric furnace and using as iron source, the pulverized recycled iron powder which is usually in the form of fine powder and is therefore liable to scatter can be effectively utilized as iron source in high yield while obviating the necessity of the use of a specific briquetting machine and an expensive binder.
