PURPOSE: To easily manufacture a titanium stock free from the occurrence of cracks, etc., and excellent in workability at a low cost by cold-rolling a titanium stock, applying pickling or grinding to the above to remove the surface layer by a proper quantity, and then carrying out specific heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: After a titanium stock is cold-rolled, the titanium surface layer is removed by ≥0.2μm by means of pickling or grinding, by which rolling oil burnt on the surface layer is removed. Subsequently, the titanium rolled stock is heat-treated at 400W<885°C. By this method, the formation of a hardened layer of TiC, TiN, TiCN, etc., on the surface is prevented and the titanium stock work-hardened by cold rolling is recrystallized. The resulting titanium stock is free from the occurrence of cracks, etc., at the time of bending and, as a result, workability can be improved.
