Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oligomerization method of α-olefins which suppresses the produced amount of a high-molecular weight polymer while retaining catalyst activities.
SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the α-olefin oligomers comprises oligomerizing α-olefins in the presence of the catalyst which comprises a chromium compound bearing at least one chromium-pyrrolyl bond and an alkylaluminum compound and is soluble in a solvent. The manufacturing method permits the selective acquisition of a product mainly composed of a trimer in a high yield and the suppression of the production of high-molecular weight polymers by oligomerization of α-olefins, particularly ethylene, and is therefore industrially greatly advantageous.
