Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of manufacturing a steering main shaft by molding a small diametral shaft by drawing, by molding an angular groove part for key lock, by drawing the larger diametral end part of a pipe material into a small diameter, and by forming an inner spline on the inner circumference of the small diametral shaft by mechanical process.
CONSTITUTION: The set length of one side of a pipe material 10 of fixed diameter, fixed length, and of fixed thickness is molded into a small diametral shaft 11 by drawing process. A mandrel 21 having a recess 21a on the outer periphery is inserted into a part 12 not yet processed of the pipe material 10, and the cold part is ironed by a die 22 having a protruded part 22a on the inner circumference, from the outside of the intermediate part to the end part, and an angular groove part 12a for key lock is molded. After a large diametral side end part 13 of the pipe material is drawn into the small diameter, an inner spline 15 is mechaned on the inner circumference of the small diametral shaft, and a steering main shaft is thus provided.
