To provide a metallic mold for molding a magnetic drum capable of embodying the working accuracy on a par with the working accuracy of machining and a method for molding the magnetic drum by using the same.
The metal mold has a first metal mold 5 and second metal mold 6 which are attached and detached relatively to and from each other. The first metal mold 5 has a core body 9 forming the inside surface of a stationary drum and a lead core 10 for forming the outer peripheral surface of the stationary drum. The lead core 10 is composed of first lead cores 10a divided in the axial direction of the drum of the helical end face and a second lead core 10b formed to the diameter slightly smaller than the diameter. A tape- sliding surface is formed by the inner peripheral surface of the first lead core 10a. A helical tape lead surface is formed by the difference in level formed by the difference in the inside diameter between the first lead core 10a and the second lead core 10b. While molded goods are held by the lead core 10, the molded goods are separated from a core body 9 and thereafter, the molded goods are separated from the lead core 10 in a parting stage after cooling.
