PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content display type portable storage medium, as to the portable storage medium for storing documents to be retrieved.
SOLUTION: A portable storage medium document card is a portable unit having a nonvolatile storage means for storing information in a digital form, a control processor for processing a function and a request started by a user, and for accessing the documents stored therein, an input and output port interfaced to an external device to read and write the digital information, and a user interface 601 for interacting the user directly with the document card. The user interface includes a plurality of traversing keys 606-609 for traversing lists of the functions and the documents to the user, a selection key 610 for allowing selection by the user between a highlight function or the document, a processing means for processing the function generated by the user, and a display 603 for displaying the lists of the functions and the documents, and the information in response to the function generated by the user.
