Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten the time required to start to cut a raw lumber by rotating the lumber at a temporary centerline as a center to detect its profile before cutting a veneer lace while rotating the lumber at the cutting centerline as a center.
CONSTITUTION: After a main centerline O is calculated, a raw lumber L is held by conveying means 9 such as a conveying pawl, and spindles 6 are released. The means 9 so regulates the direction of the lumber L as to eliminate the deviation of a temporary centerline O' from the main centerline O before conveying or during conveying. The lumber L is so supplied to a spindle 10 that the center of the spindle 10 of the lace coincides with the main centerline O. When the lumber L is supplied to the spindle 10 of the lace in this manner, the knife stock 2 of the lace 1 is waited at the rear, and a gap G is set between its knife 3 and the spindle. The knife stock 2 is slowly advanced to cut the lumber L, thereby obtaining a veneer Lp.
