To provide a reversal development method using an organic photoreceptor which generates less black dots and by which wide gradations and high image density can be obtained and to provide a method and an apparatus for image formation which use the reversal development method.
As for the image forming method which forms an electrostatic latent image on the organic photoreceptor and develops the electrostatic latent image into a toner image by reversal development, the organic photoreceptor has an intermediate layer containing a resin having a fusion heat quantity 0 to 40 J/g and water absorptivity ≤5 wt.%, and a photosensitive layer, both layers on a conductive base. The electrostatic latent image is developed under the conditions represented by 900 V≤|VH|≤1500 V (1) and 50 V≤|VH|-|VDC|≤300 V (2).
