PURPOSE: To enable to utilize non-reversed character and enhance the efficiency of composition by a method wherein the beam of light transmitted through a matrix case from below is reflected by a mirror and the reflected beam of light is projected onto a photosensitive film to compose.

CONSTITUTION: A beam of light from a light source 1 is transmitted upwardly through the matrix case 3 comprising the non-reversed character and the optical image of a desired character picked through a projection port 4 is projected onto the photosensitive film on a drum 7 to compose through a lens 5 and the mirror 2. (Numeral 6 denotes a shutter).
