Abstract:

To obtain a chemithermomechanical pulp having bulkiness, excellent strength and optical characteristics from a high-volume heavy material having ≥4.0 Runkel ratio and a thick cell wall.

This method for chemithermomechanical pulp production comprises compressing chips vertically to its fiber direction, immersing the chips in 2-5% alkali solution containing about 0.2-0.5% chelating reagent at a normal temperature for 30 minutes and adding 2-7% alkaline hydrogen peroxide just before primary refining to carry out refining.
