PURPOSE: To provide the method for closing a pipe end which can completely close the pipe end without requiring the welding operation of a closing part as a post stage and can thereby reduce the cost.

CONSTITUTION: This method for closing the pipe end consists in closing the end of a tubular body 10 which rotates at a high speed around its axial center line p by bringing a forming tool 7 into pressurized contact with the pipe end and drawing the pipe end by utilizing the friction heat generated when generated on both contact surfaces. The pipe end is formed to a circular conical shape by pressing the forming tool 7 therewith while maintaining a specified angle A°, then pressing the forming tool 7 while moving the tool in an arc shape, by which the pipe end is formed to a hemispherical shape.
