Abstract:
To provide a method for connecting photonic crystal fibers by which a narrow hole is prevented from collapse.
A pair of photonic crystal fibers 20, 20 are arranged to face the fiber ends of the pair of photonic crystal fibers each other at spaced intervals of less than 15 μm. Discharge is done at the facing sections of the pair of photonic crystal fibers 20, 20. At least one of the pair of photonic crystal fibers 20, 20 heated by the discharge is move so that the fiber ends may be butted to each other.
