Abstract:

To reduce adverse affects caused by pressure pulsation of a fuel pipe line without depending on a resonator.

This method for controlling a high-pressure pump 8 includes: a plunger 86 reciprocatingly driven by rotation output of an engine 0; a force-feed chamber 83 with its capacity expanded/contracted by reciprocatingly driving a piston; and a spill valve 84 interposed between a fuel tank 78 and the force-feed chamber 83 and opening/closing circulation between the fuel tank and the force-feed chamber. The method for controlling the fuel pump controls open time by the spill valve 84, thereby controlling a fuel delivery frequency per turn of the engine and discharge in a single fuel delivery. In a predetermined engine speed range with fuel pulsation and resonance actualized in the pipe line K between the fuel tank 78 and the fuel pump, the fuel delivery frequency per turn of the engine is changed in comparison with other cases.
