Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling melt and refinery processes in an arc furnace for metal melting which improve productivity and reduce wear of heat resistant materials of EAF and unnecessary power consumption of stirring power and arc power.SOLUTION: An arc furnace includes a molten metal, a solid metal and a slag layer on the surface of the molten metal, and an electromagnetic stirrer is arranged to stir the molten metal. A control method includes a step (100) of calculating and/or determining the masses of the molten metal and the solid metal at a certain time on the basis of initial values of the molten metal and the solid metal, an arc powder supplied to the arc furnace and temperatures of the molten metal and the solid metal, a step (200) of determining a stirring power on the basis of the calculated and/or determined masses and a step (300) of supplying a determined stirring power to the electromagnetic stirrer.
