Abstract:

To automatically correct a steering angle of tires to keep rectilinearity, when abrupt braking is conducted under a condition where friction coefficients between wheels and a road surface are different in the left wheel and the right wheel each other.

This control method for a motor-driven power steering device for an automobile includes a step for determining whether automatic correction control for a steering angle is carried out or not in response to a traveling speed and a rotational condition of the each wheel under a braking condition, a step for setting a cooperative steering angle cooperated with the braking condition based on the determination of execution for the automatic correction control and the traveling speed, a step for setting a target steering angle for conducting the automatic correction control based on the set cooperative steering angle and an actual steering angle of a steering wheel, and a step for feedback control to make the actual steering angle follow the set target steering angle. The steering angle for the wheels is automatically corrected in a direction to reduce a yawing moment of the vehicle, when the abrupt braking is conducted under the condition where the friction coefficients between the wheels and the road surface are different in the left wheel and the right wheel each other.
