Abstract:

To provide a method for controlling a power source of a DC arc melting furnace for securing operational stability even when momentary voltage drop occurs in a primary side power source system.

Disclosed is a method for controlling a power source of a DC arc melting furnace in which AC is guided from a primary side power source system 10 to a rectifier 32 via a saturable reactor 30, an arc is generated by energizing between a furnace bottom electrode 6, and a material 8 to be melted is melted. By a power source control device 20 for controlling the arc, detection signals for detecting voltage drop from a detection device 12 provided in the primary side power source system 10 are received, and control for suppressing output drop from the rectifier 32 is performed at the time of voltage drop.
