Abstract:

To provide a method of controlling a semiconductor laser device capable of obtaining desired optical characteristics even if a heater degrades.

A semiconductor laser device comprises: a semiconductor laser including a first wavelength selection section whose refractive index is controlled by a heater and includes an optical waveguide in which diffraction gratings are provided at a predetermined distance, and a second wavelength selection section which includes an optical waveguide in which the diffraction gratings are provided at a predetermined distance; and a wavelength locker for calibrating parameters of the semiconductor laser to the specified values based on a measurement result of the oscillation wavelength of the semiconductor laser. A method of controlling the semiconductor laser device comprises: a first step of oscillating the semiconductor laser by using the fixed initial set value during a reboot of the semiconductor laser; a second step of adjusting a heat value of the heater until the heat value falls within the fixed specified value after the first step; and a third step of calibrating the wavelength of the semiconductor laser based on the detection result of the oscillation wavelength of the semiconductor laser after the second step.
