To provide a method for cutting a weft in removing an abnormal yarn, capable of surly cutting the weft by using a feeding yarn cutter which runs from a main nozzle to a weft treating device.

This method for cutting the weft in removing the abnormal yarn comprises keeping the weft 1 in the main nozzle 2 in such a state that the weft threads from the main nozzle 2 to the weft treating device 3 when an abnormality occurs in a weft inserting operation of a weaving machine, then maintaining the state as it is, and (1) injecting a fluid from the main nozzle 2 while the weaving machine operates to close a shed 12 of the warp 11 so that the warp 11 in the closed state of a shedding operation catches and holds the weft 1 until the fed yarn cutter operates, or (2) injecting the fluid from the main nozzle 2 during the duration or longer starting from the time immediately before the weft 1 enters an operational zone of the fed yarn cutter 4 and ending with the time when the fed yarn cutter 4 operates so that the weft 1 is expanded and prevented from shrinking, and finally cutting the weft 1 with the fed yarn cutter 4.
