Abstract:

To attain the modeling of tire performance under rolling condition in steady state by forming a definite element tire model, comparing the tread condition in steady state obtained by application of a radial load and internal pressure with the limitation of tread, increasing the number of sets of control variables, and repeating the procedure until the tread condition is converged.

A tire model is formed by the model of a definite element model having an associated equation for evaluating the distortion, force, stress and deflection of each component node (step 24). Specified variables such as tire inner pressure, radial load and the like are then set (step 26, 28, 30). Fixed tread conditions are examined to judge whether these satisfy the limitation of tread or not (step 32, 34). When the tread condition in steady state is not converged by the limitation of tread, the control variables are increased, and the procedure is repeatedly continued until the program is ended (step 32, 34, 36, 38). On the other hand, when the tread condition is converged, the procedure is ended (step 40, 42). According to this, optimization of tire design or cornering characteristic can be attained.
