Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for identifying an inhibitor of a protease specific to an amyloid precursor protein. CONSTITUTION: The regulating method of formation of a protein of β-amyloid by an inhibitor of at least one kind of a protease specific to a precursor of a β-amyloid protein of Alzheimer's disease, e.g. an inhibitor of an asparatic acid protease, and an inhibitor of cathepsin D and chymotrypsin-like serine protease; the method for detecting in vitro protease activity for a molecule having specificity required for degrading the amyloid precursor protein; and the assay identifying the inhibitor specific to the amyloid precursor protein.
