Abstract:

To provide a method of determining whether there is a possibility or not that a character, which may enter a game region, will enter the game field by a simple operation before the game calculation, and to prohibit the game calculation on the character if it is determined that there is no possibility of the character entering the game region.

Six regions R-P, R+P, R-Q, R+Q, R-R, and R+R, on the outside of a flat plane including six faces surrounding the game region, are defined, and eight apexes of a bounding box surrounding the character are found. These coordinates are converted to game region coordinates according to a game program. Whether there is a possibility or not of the character being included in the game region at least partly can be determined based on whether all the apexes seem to be present in any one of the six regions.
