Abstract:

PURPOSE: To surely determine the proceeding state of a yarn to be sent to a fiber machine by producing electric signals to be used for driving a displaying apparatus, a machine controlling circuit, and similar apparatuses based on the alteration of the position and the shape of the yarn.
CONSTITUTION: Judgment of the moving or stopping state of a yarn to be monitored is carried out by a conical light beam at a wide angle produced by a light emitting element 2 and a photosensitive face 9 of a light receiving element having a large surface area. Electric currents 11, 12 flowing in the anodes 11, 12 are provided from the element 1 and produced as functions of the alteration of the position and the shape of the shadow 17 of a yarn 8 between the element 2 and the element 1 of the sensor S displayed on the photosensitive face 9. In the case the position or the shape of the shadow, that is the dark region 17, is changed on the photosensitive face 9, currents with different intensities are generated in the anodes 11, 12 of the element 1. The alteration of the position or the shape is caused during the transportation of the yarn 8 to the fiber machine and thus the movement of the yarn can be detected.
