PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely detect a specific point from a photographed image even when an appearance of the specific point varies due to an environmental change at shooting.
SOLUTION: A template image preparing module 102 produces a template image corresponding to a landmark existing in an actual space from a fixed viewpoint image obtained from a fixed camera 101 at predetermined timing, and provides the template image to a landmark detection module 113 to update a template image for use in template matching. The landmark detection module 113 performs the template matching using the template image updated in the template image preparing module 102 against a photographed image from an observer's viewpoint camera 111 which is mounted on an HMD 110 and moves together with the observer, and detects the position of the landmark in the photographed image.
