PURPOSE: To carry out doubling according to a fine pattern without damaging foil yarn by picking the foil yarn cut through a spatula capable of reciprocating along a cloth fell according to the weaving width without turning the foil yarn upside down.
CONSTITUTION: A spatula 1 fixed on a supporting member 11 so as to enable reciprocation along a cloth fell is advanced and the tip of foil yarn cut according to the weaving width is introduced into holes 3 formed in the upper and bottom walls in the tip and the holes 3 are then closed with a shielding plate 5 to hold the foil yarn, which is then led into a warp shed while retreating the spatula 1. In a stage when the foil yarn tip reaches the side of the other selvage part, the holding of the foil yarn tip is released and a restraining part for restraining the rear end of the foil yarn is simultaneously retreated to pull back the rear end to the outside of the selvage part. In a stage of sensing the foil yarn tip on the outside of the other selvage part, the movement of the foil yarn is stopped or the spatula 1 is retreated as described above and the rear end of the foil yarn is restrained synchronously with the sensing of the foil yarn tip on the outside of the selvage part. The foil yarn tip is simultaneously opened to arrange the positions of the picked foil yarn.
