Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a drying method for stably producing coated paper high in print strength and causing no mottling in printing.
CONSTITUTION: Base paper is coated with a coating liquid and then dried with hot air in the drying process; this drying method is characterized by that signals are inputted from a dew point sensor 5 and a thermosensor 9 equipped in each hot-air dryer unit to regulate the steam blow into each hot-air circulation system, fresh air introduction and the steam level for the heat exchanger for regulating hot air temperature, thereby drying coated paper at 45-55°C in the dew point of the hot air in the hot-air dryer and at 100-180°C in hot-air temperature. Control of both hot-air dew point and hot-air temperature has enabled coated paper for printing use excellent in print strength and mottling prevention to be stably produced.
