To provide a method of forming the bevel tip of a catheter, preventing the wear of a mold and an arbor.
In a method of forming the bevel tip of a medical catheter, a catheter blank 9 is placed on an arbor 2. The end 3 of the arbor 2 is normally extended over the end of a catheter to be inclined. The arbor 2 and the catheter blank 9 are put in a preheated mold 1. The mold 1 has a passage for the arbor 2. A part of the mold 1 for forming the end of the catheter has a constriction 6, and material (casting fin) can move to the outside of the mold 1 from mold space through this constriction 6. When the arbor 2 and the catheter are removed from the mold 1, casting fin 11 is separated from the catheter and cut off in the position of the constriction 6 between the mold 1 and the arbor 2, since the blank 9 is sufficiently cooled.
