Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the detecting accuracy of torque by uniformizing the thickness of a magnetostrictive film for a magnetostrictive torque sensor.
SOLUTION: A rotating shaft 11 of the magnetostrictive torque sensor is plated by putting the rotating shaft 11 into a plated bath 25 with cylindrical masking jigs 16, 17 being fitted and fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft 11 of the magnetostrictive torque sensor, and the magnetostrictive film 12 is formed on the portion which is not covered with the masking jigs 16, 17. When the rotating shaft is masked by using a conventional masking tape, the film thickness of the both axial ends of the magnetostrictive film 12 is locally increased, and the detecting accuracy of the magnetostrictive torque sensor is reduced. However, when the rotating shaft is masked by using the cylindrical masking jigs 16, 17, the film thickness of the magnetostrictive film 12 is uniformized in the axial direction, and the detecting accuracy of the magnetostrictive torque sensor is enhanced.
